Students in the Field Promoting Workplace Wellbeing

In Fall 2018, Outreach PI of the Healthier Workforce Center (HWC), Shelly Campo, conducted a service learning project for her graduate course in Health Communication Campaigns in Jefferson County, Iowa focused on mental health. The project was supported by the University of Iowa’s Office of Outreach and Engagement and the HWC. The course had four separate projects focused on different populations in the county, one of which was “what can workplaces do” to address mental health. The students developed a toolkit of ideas for workplaces using the Hierarchy of Controls that ranged from individual stress management to healthy work design. More information about the project, including the student’s report and toolkit can be found on the Office of Outreach and Engagement website.
