This presentation will discuss current research findings about the exposures of healthcare workers to viruses during patient care, with a focus on viruses causing respiratory disease. Learners will also identify implications for infection risk and appropriate personal protective equipment for healthcare settings.

Biography

Rachael Jones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and the Industrial Hygiene Program Director at the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Utah. She received her graduate training at the University of California, Berkeley. One of Dr. Jones’ primary research areas is occupational exposures to infectious diseases and the implication of these exposures for occupationally-acquired infections.
