Abstract provided by PI: The importance of employment-based health protection (traditional occupational health and safety services) and health promotion (workplace wellness services) have been the subject of two major Institute of Medicine [IOM] reports. In order to assess the extent to which Iowa Hospital Association [IHA] member hospitals have adopted elements of a fully integrated employee health program, we propose a survey of all IHA hospitals. The electronic survey—based on the 2005 IOM Employee Total Health Management Model—will be developed in partnership with the UI Healthier Workforce Center for Excellence [HWCE] and conducted in the fall of 2012. Survey results will be used by the HWCE to develop one of its technical reports and for a paper to be submitted in the peer reviewed employee health literature, both of which will be developed collaboratively and co-authored with the IHA.
