What is Total Work Health?

HWCEvideoseriesTotal Worker Health® is a strategy developed by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) that integrates occupational safety and health protection with workplace policies, programs and practices that promote health and prevent disease to advance worker safety, health and well-being. A growing body of evidence shows that combining traditionally silo-ed domains is a key strategy for significant, long term impact on a company’s bottom line and the well-being of the nation’s workforce.

A Total Worker Health® approach also considers the employee as a whole person and understands that health and safety factors that affect the worker on the job, affect the worker and their families’ health, safety and well-being off the job; and factors beyond the workplace impact the worker’s health, safety and ability to perform on the job.
